Alice is a highly talented commercial disputes and insolvency litigator, who brings more than six years’ experience to her role as Associate at Ironbridge Legal.
Clients and colleagues praise Alice for her client-centric approach, noting her to be a good listener, effective communicator and excellent drafter of legal documents. Alice’s high emotional intelligence coupled with her intellectual rigour, enables her to truly in understand her client’s objectives and the commercial drivers to ensure she gets the best possible outcome for her clients.
Alice has extensive experience in legal prosecuting and defending proceedings, resolving disputes and providing insolvency advice. Alice has regularly appeared before various courts, participated in mediations, and acted as lead counsel in judicial settlement conferences (in New Zealand). Her clients have included individuals, liquidators, company directors and creditors. Notably, Alice assisted in updating ‘Heath & Whale on Insolvency’, New Zealand’s leading insolvency textbook regularly referred to by both Judges and Counsel across New Zealand.
Before joining Ironbridge Legal, Alice practised as a solicitor in New Zealand.
Alice’s experience spans corporate, commercial and insolvency litigation in which she has acted for and advised both individuals, companies and liquidators. Some of her notable matters are listed below.
- Represented New Zealand liquidators in bringing breach of director duties claims against de jure and shadow directors of a company that imported infant milk powder from New Zealand to various countries, including China, which resulted in a recovery of over $700k for the liquidators
- Represented shareholders and directors facing various claims brought by liquidators against them for breach of director duties, fiduciary duties and repayment of various monies
- Represented liquidators in recovering voidable transaction claims
- Assisted numerous companies to recover of debts from debtor companies and pursued liquidation orders against those companies for failure to pay
- Represented liquidators in bringing breach of director duties claims against a director of a company with a claim value of over $15m
- Successfully rallied creditors of a major New Zealand construction company to replace the shareholder appointed liquidator with a creditor appointed liquidator
- Successfully mediated an $80m claim brought by a Body Corporate (with 285 lot owners) against 17 defendants who were involved in the construction of the development
- Represented defendants in a $6m breach of contract claim brought by a company against a well-known Iwi leader and trustees of Iwi entities in New Zealand
- Successfully litigated several breach of contract and negligence claims
- Successful advised on and litigated several bankruptcy applications
- Successfully had statutory demands set aside
- Successfully assisted secured mortgage lenders enforce security against borrowers following a loan default
- In 2017, Alice was admitted to the bar in New Zealand.
- In 2020, Alice was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria. She has practiced in both the Victorian and New South Wales jurisdictions.
