About the listing
The 2026 Doyle’s Guide rankings for NSW Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution Lawyers were published on 22 May 2026. The list identifies the lawyers in New South Wales whose peers single out for work on complex commercial disputes.
Doyle’s Guide explains its methodology on its website. The rankings are compiled from peer-review surveys, telephone interviews and face-to-face interviews with practising solicitors, barristers, clients and industry bodies. Lawyers are then ranked by the volume and quality of positive feedback received from those sources, with editorial discretion applied to the final tiers.
Two features of the methodology are worth highlighting:
- Pay-to-play is not permitted. A lawyer or firm cannot purchase a listing. No advertising relationship affects the ranking.
- Self-nomination is not accepted. A lawyer cannot apply to be listed. The listing turns on what other lawyers, barristers and clients say about that lawyer when surveyed by Doyle’s researchers.
For commercial litigation, that matters. Most of the lawyers and barristers who provide feedback to Doyle’s have seen the listed lawyer on the other side of a case. The directory is a reflection of how a lawyer is regarded by the practitioners they run cases against.
About Trevor Withane
Trevor is the founder and Managing Partner of Ironbridge Legal. He leads the firm’s commercial disputes and cross-border asset recovery and enforcement practice from Sydney.

He founded Ironbridge Legal to bring that depth of specialist disputes experience to the Australian market, in a firm focused on two practice areas: commercial litigation and insolvency – and now also on compliance and regulatory matters.
